About DiabloWeb
Return to Tristram in the original Diablo, an action RPG about exploring dangerous dungeons, fighting monsters and finding equipment. DiabloWeb brings that classic game to the browser through a community project based on Devilution. Start with its limited free Shareware edition, or use your own original DIABDAT.MPQ for full content. Click Play to load the player on this page; the project's own website is available as a backup.
- Limited free Shareware with an approximately 50 MB resource download reported by the provider.
- Own-file option for players who already possess original Diablo game data.
- Community web port built from Devilution, distinct from the original release.
The original Diablo atmosphere
The story begins in Tristram, a troubled town where a cathedral stands above the ruins of an ancient monastery. The original Diablo draws you into dark, changing dungeons filled with monsters and equipment to discover. The full original game offers Warrior, Rogue and Sorcerer classes; the free Shareware is a limited introduction, so follow its available options rather than assuming all original-game features are included. DiabloWeb is a community browser implementation, separate from Blizzard's original release.
What a newcomer actually does
Choose Play Shareware in the player, wait for its resource download, then follow the character menus. In our opening test, a warrior entered Tristram and moved by clicking the ground. From that starting point, the original game's central loop is to explore, fight and look for useful equipment. Focus the game canvas before using its displayed controls, and start on a desktop browser for more room around the classic interface.
Shareware versus your own game file
The provider's opening screen offers a limited free Shareware download and a separate option to select DIABDAT.MPQ. Choose Shareware if you want to try the game first; the provider describes its download as roughly 50 MB. To load full content, use only your own original game-data file. We do not distribute it. Full-game progression, saves and expansion compatibility have not been verified in this browser player.
Questions before you start
Which Diablo game is this?
DiabloWeb runs the original Diablo through a community browser implementation based on Devilution. It is not Diablo II, Diablo III or an official Blizzard browser release. The free Shareware is a limited introduction; full content requires your own original game data.
What do I need for full content?
Full content requires your own original DIABDAT.MPQ. The site does not distribute that file, and you should not obtain it from unofficial sources. Only select a game-data file you already own; full-game content and saves were not tested here.
What if the on-page player stays blank?
Allow the provider's resource download to finish and use the controls shown inside the game. If the embedded player does not work in your browser, open the original DiabloWeb project site with the backup link. Reloading can lose unsaved progress.
Before you play
Shareware is limited content and downloads about 50 MB according to the provider. Full content requires your own DIABDAT.MPQ; we do not distribute this file.
Checked 2026-10-30: Play interaction checked: started the free Shareware, created a warrior and clicked to walk through the opening town. Full-game content and saves were not tested.
Get started
- Click Play DiabloWeb above, then choose Play Shareware inside the player.
- Wait for the provider download, then create a character and follow its game menus.
- For full content, only select your own DIABDAT.MPQ. Follow the game's character and session menus after loading.
Controls
Use the player's displayed controls and focus its canvas. Start on a desktop browser for the clearest view of the original interface.
If you get stuck
Choose Play Shareware rather than the file selector for the free test. Let its roughly 50 MB download finish, then use the character menus. For full content, select only your own original game data.
